Weldmar Hospicecare Trust had a team of 48 runners who took part in the 2016 Weymouth Half Marathon. Together, they raised in excess of £5,000 which will help Weldmar to continue to provide care to patients and their families across Dorset.
Along with the runners, Weldmar had some wonderful volunteers, who gave up their time to marshal along the route and help to cheer the runners as they completed the 13.1 mile course as well as handing out medal at the finish line.
Matt Smith, Community & Events Fundraising Manager for Weldmar Hospicecare said 'We are very proud to be the official charity partner for the Weymouth Half Marathon. The money that you have helped us raise will mean that we can continue providing high quality care, love and support to patients and their loved ones across Dorset, as an when they need it most.
We are delighted to support Weldmar Hospicecare and we can confirm they will continue to be the charity partner for the Weymouth Half Marathon in 2017.
Quattro Sportive 2016
Tuesday, 22 March, 2016 - 12:27
With only 11 days to go, now is the time to enter this beautiful rural cycle event which takes riders through some of the four counties' finest villages including the historic Castle Ashby, the traditional market town of Olney and some of our favorite villages including Newton Blossomville, Kimbolton and Harrold.
There will be 3 multi distance cycle event routes available in 2016. The bike route will start from and finish at the village of Cogenhoe in Northamptonshire. Cycle the 51 mile Piccolo, 64 mile Medio or 86 mile Gran Fondo - the choice is yours! The Medio is as close as possible to a 100 km cyclosportive, for those looking for that particular cycle event.
This is not an extreme cyclosportive course, but takes in some great rural roads and is a great way to start off your 2016 UK cyclosportive season or prepare for the bike leg of some longer distance triathlons. We love this cycling event!
The inspiration for the name comes from the fact that riders cycle through parts of all 4 counties during the longest course: Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire & Northamptonshire.
There will be 2 Premium Feed stations for the Gran Fondo and 1 for the Medio and Piccolo. All offering a wide selection of sweet and savory snacks as well as USN nutrition products.
All riders who take part will have access to :
- Energy drinks/bars/gels from our nutrition sponsors USN at the feed stations.
Hopefully you won't need it but:
- Full Medical support.
And when you finish:
You'll receive a Just Racing commemorative medal when you cross the finish line.
Best of all there are refreshments at Cogenhoe Football Club including a bar when you finish!
