Whilst writing this the sun has finaly shown it's face, so well done to all who braved the cool 12 degree waters, powered the 23k bike and sprinted the 2 lap 5k run course. Provisional results are now online. All queries will be forwarded to our timing team and results will be finalised by Thursday 13th May. Any questions regarding qualification for either the 2010, 2011 European Championships or the 2010 World Championships need to be directed to the relevant BTF team managers and not us.
We hope you enjoyed this years Grendon Triathlon and we look forward to welcoming a lot of you back to either the Little Beaver or the Beaver triathlon in just under 3 weeks time.
We have just returned from Grendon Lakes and have just swam the course. We measured the water again (further into the centre of the lake) and it measured 13.5 degrees. I swam the course without a wetsuit and although the initial getting in took your breath away, once swimming all was well. At this temperature, however, wetsuits will be compulsory. With lower air temperatures, make sure you have the appropriate clothing to complete the bike and run sections of the event.
Registration is open on saturday between 3 and 5pm or Sunday between 6.30am and 8.30am. Each wave will have its own registration point. Please note, transition needs to be clear at 8.30am, by the time the first wave begins, so make sure you allow enough time to register, rack your bike and get across to the swim start (about 5mins walk).
We look forward to welcoming you all to this years Grendon Triathlon
A quick update on the water temperature at Grendon Lakes.
Having just returned today, the waters are a very pleasant 14 degrees C. Whilst this is no guarantee of the water temperature for Sunday morning, we wanted to let all competitors know that at the moment, things are looking good.
This is the 9th year of the Grendon Triathlon and so far we haven't had to alter or cancel the swim course due to the water temperature (although we know that this doesn't guarantee anything).
The next water test will be on Sunday morning approximately 1 hour prior to the race starts.
This weekends start times and waves have now been added to the website.

We look forward to welcoming you all to this weekends sprint triathlon.
We are currently processing the Grendon Tri withdrawals that we have received over recent weeks. When this had been done, we will be contacting individuals on the reserve list to see if they still want a place. If you have not been contacted by this weekend (24th Apr) then, on this occasion, you have not secured a spot at the 2010 Grendon Triathlon. As a consequence, we are not adding any further names to the Grendon Triathlon waiting list.

Entries for the 2010 Grendon Triathlon are now closed as we have reached our race limit. If you have missed the entries and would still like to race, send an email to julie@justracinguk.com stating your name and date of birth and we will add you to a waiting list. We will notify you if any places become available.
Out of the 70 additional places that were released yesterday for the 2010 grendon triathlon, there only 10 left. This is an online entry option only and the places are distributed as a first come first served. When all of the places are taken, the availability to enter online will be removed. We expect the remaining 10 places to be taken today.
We are pleased to announce that our online entry fees have now been reduced form 4% to 2.5%. This will apply to all online transactions. There were a lucky 600 customers who weren't charged any online entry fees during the first week's launch of the new website (this wasn't intended as a promotion, it was just our mistake!). We hope you enjoy using the new site, but remember any problems do let us know so we can ensure all is working as it should be.
We have now filled the 600 places on offer for this year's Grendon Triathlon. We are seeking ways in which we can increase the field size and are hoping that we can offer up to another 100 places. If this is possible, it will be on a first come first served basis. However, anybody still wanting a place can drop us an email and we will let you know if and when any additional places become available. For all those who have secured a place at the 2010 Grendon Triathlon, we look forward to welcoming you on 9th May 2010.
We have been astounded at the response to this years Grendon Triathlon. At the start of today we have only 20 places available. The limit of 600 is there as we have to get all the swimmers in the water over a 30minute period, to avoid large groups of riders making a right turn at the start of the bike leg and crossing those cyclists who are finishing their bike leg, creating an unsafe area for all. We have typically had 4 waves of up to 150 in each wave setting off every 10minutes. Due to the huge demand for this event we are looking at ways we can accept more entries whilst ensuring athletes still have a safe and enjoyable event. We will keep you posted, but expect to be closing entries either today or tomorrow.
With 550 out of 600 places already taken, we think it is only a matter of days before the remainding 50 places are taken. IF you are planning to enter the 2010 Grendon Triathlon, don't delay - enter today!
As we head in to 2010 the Grendon Triathlon is the current hot potato as we are already almost 50% full. The multiple status of this event is attracting competitors from all over the UK and promises to be a hotly contested Sprint Triathlon event. All abilities are welcome and you do not have to be trying to qualify to enter this event. See the event page about how to enter online.
