Ride 101 takes cyclists through 101 miles of stunning and challenging countryside. The ride starts from Thame Leisure Centre (the home of the Thame triathlon) and heads in to the chilterns for a sampling of hills. The early part of the ride will take riders past the Prime Minister's country residence Chequers, the exclusive health spa Champneys and Whipsnade Zoo - the buffalo will provide a timely distraction!
There will be 2 feedstations on the route, the first coming at Wendover Woods (the home of the Wendover Multi-terrain 5) and the second at the village of Mentmore. For those doing the shorter route, Mentmore will be your only feedstation. The second half of the ride, takes place in the undulating Aylesbury Valley and despite a short respite the terrain becomes more undulating (compared to the hilly chilterns) during the latter stages of the ride.
There will be tougher Sportives, but with almost 6000 feet of varied climbing and fantastic scenery … few will compare.
For some the distance will be the challenge, for others it will be the varied climbing. For others it will be both.
This is your Ride 101...
