One of the first triathlon events in the East Midlands and the UK, Duston is where more and more people are taking the plunge for their first race of the new triathlon season. It’s also the Northants County Championships.

The event starts with the 400m-pool swim at the Duston School, followed by a 1-lap 20k bike route. The bike is full of cheeky little surprises, our favourite being the hill at Great Brington. But don’t worry; the bike course is in the very scenic countryside surrounding Althorpe House, so plenty to take your mind off things, should things get a little tough going…

The 1 lap run course brings home the event with a fast 5k finish. Despite a fairly tough bike course there is a growing number of triathletes going under the hour, highlighting the increase in quality at the top end of the field. But, it goes without saying that all abilities are welcome and if it’s your first triathlon event, we’re sure you’ll leave wanting to do more. We typically have about a third of our entry who are taking part in their first ever triathlon – and they love it!

We hope to see you starting your triathlon season with us in 2010…
