Famous for its fine Georgian seafront and long golden, sandy beaches; the views from Dorset's Weymouth Bay are truly spectacular and make for quite a unique new race site.
The Jurassic coastline is famous internationally as a World Heritage site, bursting with rich heritage and steeped in over 185 million years of history.
And that’s not all. As Weymouth and Portland was a host venue for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic sailing events, the area has hugely benefited from the ‘Olympic Legacy’, with improvements made across all sectors; from local transport and tourism to infrastructure and roads.
So what better place to host a new UK iron distance triathlon event?
This challenging endurance race will take place on 14th September 2014, starting with a 3.8km open water sea swim in the clear blue waters of Weymouth Bay. The rolling 180km bike course will weave through stunning local countryside offering competitors a fast and smooth cycling event, taking in the beautiful surrounding terrain. The 42.2km run will then lead through the town, which will no doubt be bustling with support from family, friends and loved ones, making for a very spectator-friendly end to a gruelling ironman triathlon.
So what are you waiting for?
Triathlon event registration is now open to all. If you are planning to race with a group of 10 or more, whether it's friends, company or club or a mix of all three, please contact Philippa Morgan email firstname.lastname@example.org
